|Born in Armenia, OninO has always been a first-class painter, but she was in doubt about taking up art as a career choice. However, after her period in a particular art school, OninO happened to chance upon the artworks of the Russian maestro, Torosijn Vagarshak. This triggered a huge change in the girl who was so motivated by the artistic genre of Toros (Torosyan Vagarshak) that she began taking up art genuinely. One cannot but ignore the substantial and immense effect of Toros in shaping the vocation of OninO as an independent artist who reveals immense creative potential of her own.
It would be highly unscrupulous to term the effects of Toros on her paintings as plain replication it was meant more as an assimilation of related stules, brush strokes and developing of one's thoughts that must be taken forefront. OninO, who was specifically captivated by the exciting and peculiar faces of Toros, spent two years learning art under him in the United States. By this time, though, the master was triumphant in making her realize her unique procedure and develop her creativity through the vast variety of her work of art.
Any evaluation made between a teacher and an apprentice cannot be considered as an imitation of art on any person. It's in fact an awareness of the creative level of each painter in trying to show the artistic finesse of each while noting of the outside influences of the complete product.
As is probable, Torosijn Vagarshak's influence is rather noticeable in some of the earlier masterpieces of OninO. Though even in the subsequent years she retains some of it, it is more during the latter portion of her artistic tenure when we can discern the uniqueness of OninO as an artist. During the early phase, one spots likeness specifically in the rendering of the characters, this includes the similar slender faces, with curious expressions. A particular look on the other hand, demonstrates that Vagarshak Torosjin's characters are either at times more matter-of-fact and at others, totally strange, while those of OninO's are somewhere in between. Interestngly enough, one assumes the sensation that her characters are larger than in real life and more magnificent and loud in their mannerisms.
One cannot help but overlook in both the art works of Torosijn Vagarshak's and OninO, the stress on the diverse types of hats that the characters wear. While the faces of Toros are devoid of hats (though the characters do don a hat in the other paintings), every work of OninO has the characters wearing some or the other type of colorful hat. In truth, all of OninO's hats are exciting and they obtain as much interest as the characters themselves.
Both however, keep their influence of Cubism; OninO more frequently than her teacher. Her toying with shapes is so cleverly revealed and so thin that one may ignore it if not seen with an observant eye. The mixture of natural elements and feelings into each of the paintings is one unique attribute of both Vagarshak Torosjin and OninO. But while Toros strictly maintains barely any touch of feminist elements in his paintings, OninO's paintings are sated with them.
OninO's liking for romance, match making, revelry and display of wealthy living make her artworks have a distinctly dissimilar aura from that of Vagarshak Torosjin, who can be more associated with the two extremes of make believe as well as realism. Similar to some other genres, both artists are somewhat uneven in their selection of themes.
The daring brush strokes of Torosijn Vagarshak against the more restrained ones of OniO's and a similar color palette are on the other hand, exclusive preferences that come forefront while observing the two artists.
In the portrayal of emotions within the images of their canvas, whether comic or sad, infatuation or excitement, rage or dissatisfaction, both the painters reveal sufficient proof of mastery. It's in this resemblance but unique exhibition of creative ability and impressions that both the artists make their own niche and OninO makes her declaration as an artist of immense caliber rather clearly felt.
